Tonight I thought I would hop on here to give another Richmond Temple Update! There are many exciting things going on! In addition, make sure to stick around for the entire post because I was able to photograph the Richmond Temple Grounds from a new perspective! 😉
In this news article, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints shows what the new Richmond Temple will look like. Below you will read a quote about what the temple will look like and see pictures of interior and exterior renderings! What do you think?
“The design of the temple draws heavily from historical American traditions. Elements found on buildings throughout Virginia – such as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and the University of Virginia – will be part of the temple’s overall look. Temple patrons and visitors will notice simple yet beautiful ornamentation, hearkening back to the humble beginnings of the United States. Interlocking diamond chains and accents of the flowering dogwood – Virginia’s state tree and flower – will be found on the inside and outside of the temple. The landscaping design is inspired by historic Williamsburg and will help contribute to a reverent, peaceful atmosphere for all who come here”
Bill Williams, Director of Temple Design
With design established, construction can now begin. In this article, you can read details about the construction timeline and plans for the future.
“Pending approval, construction could begin by the late second quarter, or early third quarter of 2020, roughly taking about 24 to 30 months to complete. The site will not require rezoning.”
Jared Doxey, Director of Construction
This is it. This is the land that will house the Richmond Temple. My heart so happy! There will be temple will be within 2 hours of my home. I love temple weddings. They are my passion! However, finally– temple in my home state that I don’t have to drive over 4 hours to get to—now that’s amazing! In other words, the feelings of excitement and gratitude are overwhelming! Because of this new temple, many families, individuals and couples living in the state of Virginia will be blessed!
Take a look at the beautiful and sacred grounds that will be home of the Lord’s sacred temples. Aren’t the Fall trees incredible.? I look forward to documenting this process over the next 2 years while it is in construction.
If you’ve been following along, you know how excited I am about this temple! You can read the Richmond Temple Photography Series of posts here:
