I had the best time with Joyce Anne and Mike at their First Landing State Park Engagement Session! I love engagement sessions because I get to know the couple and talk all about how they fell in love and what they like to do together.
How They Met:
Joyce Anne received a phone call from her Aunt telling her that her friend “has a son” that wants to meet me (think Greek Aunt wanting her niece to finally meet a nice boy). She reluctantly gave her aunt her phone number to pass on. She thought she might finally get to meet “the greek son” at a birthday party but she didn’t have much expectation because he never called. As she mingled with friends at the party, the “greek son” was no where to be found. Then, a late arrival to the party, caught her eye.
Joyce Anne said “This really attractive man arrived late to the party who had injured his back at a competition all the gym people had participated in that day. Again, coincidentally, my Greek friend Nick (friends with the “son” I was supposed to meet) was also friends with this attractive man with a SF Giants tatoo on his leg. They were talking in a corner, and I was trying to find a way to break in to their conversation, so I could meet this guy. I walk up to them and say, “hey, do you guys want a brownie?” (not holding any brownies to offer them), they said, “yes, sure.” So I said, “oh okay, great, I’ll go get you some.” And I brought them a full plate of brownies to choose from.”
They really hit it off. They exchanged numbers through her friend and never looked back. She never did meet the “Nice Greek Son” she was supposed to meet. They both laugh that he intercepted arranged marriage!
They were engaged 2 years later at the top of Cape Hatteras Light House. Mike played the exact same Greek song that her father played to her mother when he proposed. Aren’t they the sweetest?
MAKE SURE YOU SCROLL TO CHECK OUT SOME HILARIOUS MOMENTS FROM THEIR SESSION!
Not only did Mike give Joyce Anne the most beautiful engagement ring, but she gifted him his own engagement ring that belonged to her late father. Isn’t that so sweet and sentimental? After her father passed away, Joyce Anne was on a flight back home. It was the worst flight because of some mechanical issues. The fateful part is, that Mike was on that same flight too–but they had no idea because they hadn’t met yet! Years later when they were having a conversation about their worst travel stories, they found out that they were both on the SAME EXACT FLIGHT long ago. They believe it was her father’s hand in it even if they didn’t meet at that moment….something would come of those two strangers on the same flight.
I could not stop laughing when Joyce Anne did this little dance over to Mike. HILARIOUS!!
Then there was the discovery of the “Stranger Things” portal. We all had a good laugh!
They transitioned into their casual outfits and did a spin for me. hahahahah!
And the grand finale came when Mike chased Joyce Anne and almost tackled her. hahahah!
