During General Conference on April of 2018, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints announced that a temple would be built in Richmond, Virginia. I blogged about it HERE.
I cannot even begin to tell you the excitement I felt when I heard this! You have to watch President Russell M. Nelson’s reaction when someone in the crowd hollered out with excitement. It still makes me giggle just like he did. I loved it so much that I’m posting it again here.
r>I literally screamed with overwhelming joy when they announced this!!! As many of you know, I rebranded in February of this year. It was a long time coming, but this particular announcement really propelled me forward. My dream of specializing in temple wedding photography seemed more attainable. It has been a scary leap of faith for me in my business, but the confirmation that this is the direction my business should go has been undeniable.
Like the true snoop that I am (haha), I have been closing monitoring and following any news related to the construction of the temple. Here are a few articles and videos of things I have found out.
The Richmond Temple will be located at
10915 Staples Mill Road in Glen Allen, Virginia
I googled and found out what the property will look like. According to this article , it will be a “two-story building of just over 36,000 square feet with an adjacent 16,000-square-foot meetinghouse also built”
I learned from the news broadcast below that the lot 11 acres and it heavily wooded. It will need to be cleared before construction begins. The plans have been submitted for approval and I can’t wait to see what it will look like!
There is still a long way to go on this project, but I’m filled with excitement! The two closest temples to Virginia are undergoing rennovations (The Washington DC Temple and Raleigh, NC Temple)
Obviously, the DC was my bread and butter–haha! (Click HERE to see DC Temple Weddings). However, I have photographed several weddings at the Philadelphia Temple and have an upcoming one at the Columbia South Carolina Temple…… BUT having the Richmond Temple will be amazing! A 2 hour car ride is much easier than a 8 hour, 10 hour or even 12-16 hour round trip drive or flight!!! Stay tuned for more progress updates!
I want to photograph weddings at all of the temples!
So check out my

and let’s make it happen!
